Help without Frontiers Portrait
Help without Frontiers was established as a non-profit organisation in Bozen/ South Tyrol on the 12th of September 2002.
Our aim is to provide help and support across national frontiers, as well as across the frontiers that may exist in our minds and hearts. We want to help people who, through no fault of their own, find themselves in an emergency situation, from which they are not able to escape without assistance.
Originally started as a small and manageable entity, the organisation quickly developed, thanks to the solidarity of so many people and the active support and cooperation of our members. Today the organisation oversees projects for thousands of Burmese refugees in Thailand and in their jungle hideouts in Burma.
Help without Frontiers Germany was launched in 2005, the "sister-organisation" in Austria was launched the following year, and the one in Switzerland launched in 2010. Help without Frontiers Foundation Thailand also started its work in 2010. All the organisations work with the same principles, where transparency and donation safety have top priority.
In 2006 Help without Frontiers received the medal of merit from the region of South Tyrol. The organisation’s founder Benno Röggla was awarded the honorary medal of his hometown Brixen in November 2009.
Since 2010 the organisation is an incorporated association. This limits the liability of the board members.
