Special Area
Thousands of internal refugees are living in the jungle areas of Burma, hiding from the military troops. These people live in makeshift settlements, many of them only reachable by walking many days.
Small schools were set up in many settlements. We have been supporting some of these IDP schools in Burma for 7 years. Sadly we have had to say goodbye to most of them now. This is very painful as the children and their families have grown very dear to us. Taking care of these schools is impossible for us, as the ongoing fighting along the border makes the logistical challenge too big. But the schools will continue anyway.
The KSEAG, Karen State Education Assistance Group, which takes care of most IDP schools in Karen State, will take over "our" schools and make sure the schools continue. Thye have the necessary requirements and experience to take care of the schools under the difficult situation. Help for the IDP schools now comes from a single hand which helps to create a uniform system inside Karen State.
