Chronic patients are kept in a dark and uncomfortable place. Tuberculosis and HIS positive patients, along with paralyzed people hit by stroke have to lay down on thin plastic mattresses placed on the hard floor.
Some of them are so weak that can not move and change position; the consequences are painful bedsores all over the body.
Even in the paediatric department children have to lay down together with their mothers and brothers on these thin mattresses on the floor. For the cost of only 400 Euros, we managed to improve a bit the situation, buying 16 mattresses, 8 cm thick, covered with a disposable smooth sheet that can be easily washed.
What we have done it is not much but we are relieved knowing that it has helped them a little to improve their lives.
