In all of our projects and the administration in Mae Sot nearly all are local staff, that means Thai, Burmese and members of ethnic minorities. In this was we can create, besides the so needed income, a clean, regulated and social secure workplace and skills for own initiatives later. Our two most important income projects are the "Happy Tailor Sewing workshop" and the "Yummy! Kitchen". Most of our staff are women, 100% in the management positions.
Both projects are also on the market and sell their products to third parties. The income and profit stays in the project and is used for free meals or clothes and school uniforms.
For all our income projects it is essential that: the work space is clean and hygienic, safe and ergonomically correct. We regularly invite experts to check and improve. The salaries are above normal local salaries (13 salaries per year), and the staff receives free food from our kitchen. All staff have health and accident insurance.
A voluntary saving plan, where staff can pay every month up to 20% of their salary gives small interest rates. The staff can also borrow small amounts which they have to pay back with interest.
