The "Daily Food" program of Help without Frontiers is an income generation project for migrants, mainly women. The speculation on food prices and the great economic crisis are leading to the impoverishment of many thousands of migrant and refugee families. Parents are taking their children from schools and sending them to work, beg or collect garbage instead. Once away from school the way back is improbable. The "Daily Food" program reduces the number of drop outs efficiently.

The kitchen of Help without Frontiers
The day of our staff starts early, at 4 am. First they go to the morning market to buy fresh vegetables, meat, fish and eggs for the day. Then they start preparing the morning meal for the dormitories which reaches them at around 6 am. Lunch is the biggest part of our program and more and more schools in Mae Sot are asking to be enrolled. At around 4 pm, while our driver is delivering dinner to the dormitories, the long day ends. On weekends they work in turns to prepare the food for the dormitories only. In February 2009 the number of daily meals produced and delivered reached 2.000 sets. The menu is decided in monthly meetings together with representatives of the schools and dormitories.
